Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: They sound great, inexpensive, look cool.

Weakness: No volume control for headphone jack, also some say the bass is to high but it's fine for me.

These are great speakers, love the subwoofer, they would be flawless except for the volume control doesn't change the volume if your using headphones. I can't beleive Logitech did would miss somthing that big.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: Great price, good speakers, above average subwoofer.

Weakness: Not any particular for the price.

A very good 2.1 speaker set for anyone who wishes to use this for MP3, video games and DVD/Divx watching. They are very good for anyone who is not looking for top notch speakers that would bring down the windows, but decent speakers that have clear sound, a strong bass, and a slick look.

Overall: A very good choice for beginners and standard users, more advanced users might look for Z3000 or other Logitech models, possibly 5.1's.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: Most economical 3 speaker system available at CompUSA. Excellent sound quality and pulse-pounding bass. Sub-woofer has independent volume control. Sounds comparable to $300 Bose iPod Dock.

Weakness: Might not be loud enough from some large rooms/commercial applications. (But is fine for me because I live in an apartment)

Today I decided to buy speakers so that I could listen to my iPod at home. Since my CD boom box didn’t have input ports and it was a whole $20 when It was new, I decided against the AirPort.

That left me with choose between an iPod speaker dock or using computer speakers. I looked at the iPod docks at the Apple Store last week and was taken aback by the high price. Genevieve, the Apple Store Representative recommended the Bose iPod Dock for $300 last week.

I then remembered that computer speakers were considerably cheaper, so I decided to pay CompUSA a visit. I decided on a three speaker set, because I am well aware that cheap computer speakers tend to sound tinny, but figured that spending more for two tweeters with a sub-woofer would help eliminate that tinniness.

I bought the Logitech X-230 for $50, they were not hooked-up for in store demonstration so I sort of took my chances. When I got home I hooked them up and was in for a room shaking experience. They are anything but tinny! The Sub woofer has an independent volume control so when I feel like the nightclub sound system effect I can turn up the bass, but for everyday listening I can keep it midrange.

The Logitech X-230s are well worth the $50 and compare very well to the $300 Bose dock. Plus since the Logitech Speakers have a mini jack, they can be used with TV and computer uses not available with the iPod Docks.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: Very clear, with wide channel separation. Desk speakers take up very little desk space and can be wall-mounted. Subwoofer, desk speakers are very good for the price

Weakness: desk speakers are very directional. they must be on your desk or otherwise positioned about ear-level to hear all of their output

These speakers are a very good value and would be a good choice if you want good stereo sound for music but don't have unlimited money to spend. When they're positioned right they give me best sound out of any audio equipment I have. The subwoofer produces more than enough base; I only have it up to about 1/4 to 1/3 of full and I'm getting all the lows I need. The desktop speakers are clear and bright. Because of the way they are angled on their stand, they really need to be placed on the same surface as your monitor unless your lucky enough to able to wall mount them at ear-level and still reach the volume and power switch that is mounted on one of them. That's not too much of a draw back though because they're only about 2 1/2" wide. Plus they're not so tall that they are unstable and fall over. I shopped online for about a week before I settled on this system and I'm glad I did. There might be better speakers for big bucks, but for what I paid, they're either the best or close to it.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: Good looking units. Very easy to place and connect. Good sound production. Highs are excellent and the subwoofer is clear. Good volume for a small room and individual listening while surfing.

Weakness: Somewhat shallow in the mid-range, but can be corrected by using the software equilizer and increasing the preamp.

Have only the built in speakers to compare ( eMac), so these are a great improvement! Do not see how the performance to cost ratio could be any better. "Logitech" is a known quantity, and their reputation is good with other products. Highly recommend this speaker system.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: Gorgeous sound quality and especially powerful bass. Very good choice for people who enjoy clear subwoofer sound at small space like home or private office.

Weakness: Until now, I can't find any problems.

Four years ago, I used the early version of 2.1 channel speaker of Logitech and was satisfied. This time I didn't hesitate about buying 2.1 ch speaker between several brands.

Under $50 price, this X-230 is very reasonable. Appropriate size of two speakers and subwoofer saves space and earphone jack of a satellite speaker is convenient.
Most of all, good looking and gorgeous sound.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: Crisp sound, utilizes FDD technology, powerful bass, wall mountable, easy to set up, no software needed just plug and play, and a nice sleek black look.

Weakness: None to date.

Would please audiophiles and the regular user. This is an exceptional product especially if you can get it in the $30 range. I could tell immediately, after upgrading from my stock speakers to this one, that it was a vast improvement in quality, looks, and sound. It has surpassed all my expectations from the very first moment I heard sound come out of it. Make sure you find it for a good price, some places will charge you $40-$50 but if you look around carefully you could bag one for $30 shipped.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: Good sound, adjustable sub-woofer, excellent value

Weakness: No microphone jack extender

These speakers are an excellent value if you are looking for good solid sound from your PC. Most computer speakers sound weak, but Logitech's sub-woofer on this set really delivers. At rms 40 watts, this system won't blow you out of the room, but it produces a very nice sound at moderately loud levels for DVD's, games and music. The sub level is adjustable so you can customize the sound and the speakers have the standard volume adjustment and headset jack. I'm probably being picky, but it would be nice if it had a microphone jack extender. These are a great value.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: High-quality sound for a great price, attractive design.

Weakness: Cord to source could be longer.

I use these speakers with my laptop computer mostly for music and so far they've been working great. The sound quality is highly respectable considering the price. Good if you're looking for some quality, affordable speakers for your computer, not great if you're looking for a truly high-performance sound system.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: Good sound, good price, and good service

Weakness: I like more watts...hehehe more power more power

The product is well built, for its size it will get the job done. I like 100w + speakers better. The merchant is great to do business with and I would do business with them again. Servce was on time and product arrived in great shape. I think I should have ordered 2 of them.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: This speaker has a slim design to save space. The design itself is also pretty "futuristic" looking. The sound quality is pretty good.

Weakness: You can't turn the subwoofer off.

I'm not a big expert on computers, so I can't say much on how great this speaker may be, but in my opinion, this speaker does not fall behind any of the previous ones i have owned. I found it a great deal for the price. The only thing I can complain about this is that the subwoofer doesn't turn off. All you can do is put it on as low as you can, but you can still feel the vibes.. It's great when you want your music booming, but if you are a quiet listener, it personally got annoying for me sometimes.

Great Bang for the Buck

Strengths: Price, look, bass, brand

Weakness: A little "muddy" at first; also quite directional

This little system is great, as are most logitech components from my experience. They're a little muddy at first, but everyone has SOME kind of EQing, even if it's just MP10, and that will even do the job (I use Jet Audio with add-ons as my PC player). I was going to get the Klipche's for about $130, but I intend to buy a SC for $100, and I think these will sound even better then. If you're on a budget and need damn good toons that can fill a medium sided room, just get 'em, you won't be dissapointed. If you're looking for a complete system, then save up and buy one. Otherwise, just get this, it will definately hold its own in $$$, and you should be quite pleased.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: Excellent Price Good sound if positioned correctly Low Profile speakers don't get in the way

Weakness: Sound is a bit "off" if not positioned correctly.

I bought this for my father, who has a home office but likes to listen to music while working. I chose mostly for the price, as he does not need a 5.1 sound system to just listen to this music. For the price, these speakers can not be beat. They work well IF positioned corrently! If you put them too close together or too far up, you lose a lot of the sound. He is very happy with them and logitech always makes decent stuff.

BOOM BANG KAPOW!!!

Strengths: Lots of bass!

Weakness: Too bassy. I hate bass. Why does everyone want bass?

Would rather listen to a dog barking at 4am on a Sunday. I don't know why people are concerned with the amount of bass and not the quality. Does anyone listen to real music these days?

Excellent Product

Strengths: Awesome Looks, Good quality sound, Good bass, marvellous price

Weakness: Too much bassy sometimes

This is an excellent product if you are looking for some great sound at less price. The two desktop speakers are very clear. I use it to connect to my laptop so that I could play some DIVX movies which has less sound. This one amplifies the sound a lot so that I could hear even very minute sounds on movie. Only problem is like many had mentioned it has too much bass sometimes. Even if I reduce the subwoofer vol to min and change the equalizer bass to min, still I could hear some vibration. Not to mention, this one comes damn cheap in price. I got it from buy.com with some coupons for $10. Overall I am very much satisfied with this product. I would recommend this to anyone.

greatest system for the money

Strengths: cheap, look great, greaaat sound...simply the best for the money...even better than some $100+ systems.

Weakness: i don t know if it s a weakness but the bass is really powerfull, but tuneable

I have had these speakears for one day allready and...they rock.I mean i thought i would be getting some cheap little wussy speakers but then i saw the box and it looked like had bought some $100+ speaker system. anyway the sound is great, looks great, crisp sound and powerfullbass...a bit to powerfull but u can tune it with an internal EQ.I would even pay $50 more for them and wouldn t have no complaints about...get them...u won t regret it.

These things are fantastic...

Strengths: I didn't think anything could beat my Henry Kloss computer speakers, but these did, at about 1/3 the price. Great highs, excellent bass, and they look pretty cool too. They look and sound fantastic

Weakness: None: the best computer speakers I've ever heard.

These bring life to internet audio that I wouldn't have imagined. When I think how much I've spent previously on audio equipment, these speakers and my relatively ancient Pentium 3 (but nice sound card) sound better than anything I've ever had at a small fraction of the price. And they look real cool too.
For the price, these are a must have. Never been disappointed with anything Logitech.

Great speakers for the money

Strengths: Good full range sound, analog volume knob, good price.

Weakness: Bass can be a little thumpy in the wood enclosure.

I really love these speakers. I purchased a set for my wife's computer when I built it for her and I want to order a set for my computer now. I am using a set of Harmon Kardon champagne speakers and they seem to be missing some of the mid-range. Plus, the Harmon Kardons have a digital button for volume control with no display showing the volume level. Sometimes I can click the volume down button 10 times and the volume barely decreases. Other times I click it down twice and I can't hear a thing. It makes me really appreciate the analog knob on these speakers and the convenience of knowing exactly where the speaker volume is.

The sound from the speakers is a good full range sound, with a little range missing on the low end, and the sound spreads out very well and is not concentrated on just the person sitting in front of the computer. The bass does seem to thump due to the wood enclosure that the subwoofer is in. I think Logitech would have had better luck making it a sealed subwoofer rather than a ported one.

All-in-all, best set of 2.1 speakers for the price.

Bravo!

Strengths: The quality of these speakers far surpasses their price. The sound quality is surprisingly rich. I like my music played in hi-fi, and these more than delivered.

Weakness: The only weakness is the cables. They aren't as long as I'd like.

Leave your reservations behind, if you need to fill a room with sweet noise for practically any purpose, this is the one. The quality is way ahead of the price you pay. I got it from Newegg.com for 32.99 total, and they sounded great right out of the box. They don't look bad, either.

Amazing. Stunning. Amazing.

Strengths: Great Great sound. Powerful subwoofer with seperate volume. clear sound. easy to connect. great price.

Weakness: knob on back of subwoofer

If you are looking for good speakers to listen to music or games on your computer, look no further. If you are looking for speakers of $100 quality, look no further. If you are looking for inexpensive speakers, wait until you hear these. They are outrageous.

I like these speakers better than $70 ones in the apple store. They are incredible. The sound sounds like it is coming from the center of the monitor, not from the sides. The bass can really shake the desk, and they are priced ridiculously low. I never expected such great quality from logitech. Even if you aren't looking for subwoofer speakers, these are a definite buy. I can understand that if you are looking for truly pure sound, you should get expensive ones. But 90% of computer users should be more than satisfied with these speakers. I have an Intel mini and use them for front row. I was stunned by the quality. These speakers are for you. And if you do have front row, the front row on and off effects sound outrageous with the sub. Rediscover your music library with a full range of sound. Trust me. You won't be disappointed. These should be the only computer speakers between $20 and $90 on the market. They look great too.

Having the volume knob on the back of the sub makes it awkward to adjust, but once it is set you shouldn't have to worry about it at all.

Great speakers at great value

Strengths: Sound quality

These are a great set of speakers, especially for the price. Consistently great sound, with very strong bass. I have them connected to my LCD TV and they are great for watching movies, HDTV, etc. (like a home theater system for under $35). I also use this with my MP3 player and the sound quality is excellent. Good looking, too.

Good Buy

Strengths: - Easy to install - only 2 cables to plugin: the electrical input and the computer input. - Good Looks - Clear and loud sound - Voices sound very good

Weakness: - Bass not as good as my previous lower wattage 2.1 speakers (which was 7 years old!)

I was looking for a sub-$50 2.1 speaker system for my PC to replace my existing speakers and Logitech X230 fit the bill exactly. At $35 this is a terrific value for money especially for casual listeners like me. PC games like Half Life sound awesome and the music is crystal clear. Skype phone calls are much better than my previous speakers (voices carry very well).
Overall its a great bargain.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: Great sound for 2.1 speakers, look nifty

Weakness: None

I picked up these speakers at a bargain price of $16 and could not be happier. For 2.1 speakers, these sound fantastic! I use these with my laptop and my music comes out crisp and clean as advertised. The speakers and subwoofer look great as well. I highly recommend these over cheaper 2.1 speakers!

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: +Great Audio Quality +Great Bass

Weakness: -Headphone jack volume can't be controlled

First and foremost, I'd recommend these to anyone in the market for a stereo speaker set. The audio pumped out of these is terrific, and thats pretty much the most important aspect of a set of speakers.

I went from some free speakers, literaly, they were a free-after-rebate setup.
Was never concerned about audio quality, but these seemed to be a good step up. Quite an understatement. Great speakers and a good buy.

However, one fault that popped up. These speakers have a headphone jack, but when USING headphones through the speakers the volume level will be at Maximum and cannot be changed. Odd. You have to lower the volume through the program or device itself. Just a warning.

Even with such a flaw, I would still recommend these speakers to just about anyone interested.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: price can't be beat good sound quality, I wasnt expecting them to sound as good as they do nice bass (they dont sound like cheapos at all) wall mountable ( I didnt even know about this option)

Weakness: cord to connect to computer is shorter than I would like due to short cord, wall mounting is limited w/o extension

Awesome bang for your buck, good bass range, good overall sound quality. These aren't something you would use for a home theater, but perfectly fine for games and music on your computer. You can even rotate the speaker bases and wall mount them.

If you are looking for budget speakers with great sound, I would recommend these.

Logitech X-230 Multimedia Speaker System

Strengths: Really good sound, easy to setup, great price

Weakness: none

This is my fourth purchase from Logitech. I have been very pleased with all of their products - the wireless keyboard, wireless mouse and USB microphone were the others. All of these products work as advertised. The speakers were easy to setup and are easy to use. The controls are on one speaker which I placed next to my monitor within reach. The sound is very good. This is not a Hi-Fi system but a significant upgrade to the built-in speakers on my Mac G5. The speakers are stylish, compact and give a really good sound even at the loudest levels.
The price was fantastic too. I paid about $38 and there was a $10 rebate on top of that. Write a review here to get another $5 rebate.
Just wondering if Logitech could piggy-back a USB input for their microphone but that is really nitpicking I guess.
