One of the Greatest Video cards of all timeStrengths: Can play many of the "modern" games at good frames per second, compared to other cards that are 4 years old. still beats many of the lower end new generation cards fps wise. ati has a great warranty Weakness: it's an old card only 128mb ram if you have a newer card these came with the same gpu's as the 9800xt's so you can theoretically run it like a 9800xt without the 256mb of ram. if you can find a card for less than a eighty dollars it's a good deal. I'd choose this over the ati 1300's, and geforce 6200s any day. at 15-70fps i still pwn on CSS. 83% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: Smooth, Great Price ($149.99 after rebates) Weakness: When I play a game or do 3dMark It crashes, I think I purchased this along with my HDTV Wonder. Read my review on that too! Whenever I run 3dMark05 or 3dMark03 everything will be fine for like 30 sec or 1 min. All of a sudden my computer beeps and the screen shows some wired crazy stuff, usaully a rought multicolored-dark colored look to it. I have sent ATI 3 emails and have not otten any responce in over 12 days. Very frusterated. I can play CounterStrike source for like 10minutes until it craps out on me. 79% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: This card is super fast and skips the bs.... anyone who plays high end games must get this card ! This is a power users dream card. Weakness: Definetly none.... every aspect of this card is built for performance.... NO WEAKNESSES. I read all the hub bub about the 9700Pro and decided to get the All in Wonder9700Pro (Great Card!).... But this card is better, most Tech sites say it's about 17% better, i say it's at least 25%.... I play Unreal, Black Hawk Down and Rainbow Six 3... NO PROBLEM, everything at it's highest settings and the card still burns rubber.... The graphics are fantastic ! There isn't a card out there... not even the 9700Pro that comes close. 77% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: The image quality is out of this world -- you won't find a graphics board with better visuals than this. This card is very stable, and I am absolutely glad I purchased it. Weakness: none If you are looking for a high-end graphics card, the Radeon 9800 Pro is your number 1 choice. I have been playing Max Payne on it since it (Radeon 9800 Pro) arrived -- the graphics are so good I can't put them into words. My older graphics card would not run Max Payne. Now with this board, I should be happy for about 18 months or even longer -- imagine that, 18 months with no worry about upgrading to a new graphics card. 77% of readers found this review helpful. ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: GPU can overclock to over 450MHz Weakness: Memory cant overclock to more than 378MHz and actually decreases as you increase the GPU voltage. I overclocked my 9800Pro to over the speed of an XT and it worked perfectly. I have been tweaking my Sapphire 9800Pro for about a month now, using overclocking utilities, BIOS flashes, and volt-mods. 74% of readers found this review helpful. ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: FAST, leading performance and well-built software Weakness: Weak stock cooler (Only noticeable with most of the fans off) Great video card. I'm using P4 3.2 GHz, P4C800-ED, 1Gb PC3200, 160Gb 7200RPM SATA HD, I've seen the maximum potential this thing can run at and it's probably the best card you can get. (Excluding the 9800 XT, which costs an excessive amount of money for the performance gain) The only thing is that you might want to add a good aftermarket cooler, because unless you're running an absurd number of fans (I am- 7x80mm) it will likely overheat. As of now, buy ATI; some of their specs might not measure up to NVidia's but their performace exceeds it. 72% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: For gaming: Super fast and breath taking speed and image quality. All the Above: Awsome Weakness: The card is great but one problem, its OVERheats. I was suprised with the abilities this video card had. I was amazed the 3dmark score this thing can achieve. Well im running a 3.4 ghz processor(overclocked), P4C800, and 1 GB of PC3200(2 sticks of 512). My 3dmark score was about 5803, without overclocking. Well, if you overclock this thing to 459mhz core, and 782mhz ram clock, you will get over 6500 3dmarks depending on the setup you have runnin. Well overall, this card is the shiznic and I have no regrets, except the fact it overheats. One suggestion, get a new cooler on it. It dosn't overheat in dx8 games, only in games like call of duty that run dx9. 70% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: Outstanding performance. Weakness: Price is a little high compared to other cards. You certainly get the best hardware from ATI. The performance metrics on the adapter is amazing. I have not found any other adpater that can provide the 3D rendering performance found on the 9800 Pro. 68% of readers found this review helpful. ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: Incredibly sharp images and brilliant colors Weakness: none I installed this card as a final upgrade to my computer. I replaced an aging Geforce 2. I can't find any game that challenges this card and I am confident that it will be able to handle anything that is thrown at it for quite a while. BTW, I was able to get a 3DMark2001SE score of 16950 with the standard core / memory clocks. I was able to clock this card to 432/371 with no issues. It would go much higher but imperfections started to show up. 67% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: Super easy install. 3.10 drivers outstanding. Great performance for price. Weakness: None I have observed. Install was a breeze. I replaced the excellent Nvidia 4600Ti. I am know able to turn-on alot more eye candy with the 9800 Pro. Overclocking is resonable. I paid $280.00 for the card and am very happy with the upgrade. You can't go wrong with the purchase of the card. 66% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: image quality Weakness: some rendering problem in some games with the AA and AF on, such as C&C:Zero Hour and Splinter Cell. no heatsink, temperature and fan monitor/controller. still using 0.15 micron technology POWER..., it is worth ur money. With my computer spec.P4 2.53(B)Ghz (FSB 533Mhz), 40Gb Maxtor(7200rpm), dual-channel 2x512Mb DDR PC2700 Kingston, MSI 865PE Neo2 series motherboard, & 3.4 catalyst, my Gigabyte Ati Radeon 9800pro 128Mb result for 3DMark2003 'fly' till 5833 points in default setting. But once i install 3.6 catalyst, it droped till 5739 points in default setting.I bought it 3 days ago which cost me RM.1590,00 (about US$420). I have to buy Gigabyte brand, cos i can find any ATI from the com. shop in Malaysia. And my friend using Gigabyte ATI Radeon 9800pro 256Mb DDR-II,with his computer spec. P4 2.8(c)Ghz (FSB 800Mhz), 40Gb Western Digital(7200rpm) with 8Mb memory buffer, dual-channel 2x512Mb DDR PC3200 Kingston (Hyper-X), same motherboard, & 3.6 catalyst, it just reach 5713 points with default setting. Both computers were tested by myself. These results make me confused. How can it be my friend result is lower than mine? 65% of readers found this review helpful. ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: If you cash flow is doing good, get the big brother of the 9700 pro! The 9800 Pro is out of this world with the images! One kick butt product. Who's NVIDIA?? HAHA Weakness: NONE, ZERO, Dont even Ask. I looked at this product for several months. Let me tell you one thing...256mb video cards chipset means beans!! The 5600 and the 5900 Ultra were supossed to disrtoy the 9800 Pro. ATI smoked the 256MB 5600 Ultra without any trouble, and new stats are comming out about the 5900 Ultra. PC Upgrade, a very nice Magazine source, reviewed the 5900 and the 9800 Pro. The settings they used werent the best for both cards, but the 5900 only beat the 9800 in one spot...3DM2003. The 9800 Pro clam QUAKE 3, UT2003flyby, and UT2003 botmatch. Come on who cares only about benchmark, videocards are not rated on bench alone; more importantly its the games!! The ATI 9800 Pro is god. If you would like to know where I got most of my sources before I bought this card, the best magazine I have ever bought was MAXIMUMPC. They know what they are talking about. Shoot, even ATI clamed there is no need to even have a 256MB videocard unless there is a high market demand. NVIDIA always tries to be the first to make something and they always screw it up, and ATI comes in and dominates!! Bottom line....... GET THIS CARD! 60% of readers found this review helpful. ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: Powerful card, carries ATI name (gotta love that), great price, awesome graphics. Weakness: Weak software bundle. No games included so I could see how this super card works with new games. I upgraded from my ATI 9000 Pro 128 and it was a huge difference, sort of. I haven't been playing tons of hardware demanding games, but I can tell you that it has made a noticeable difference. Running the demo for UT 2004 is silky smooth and much more fun with the details turned up super high including Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering. So it doesn't seem to have any problems playing most of the newer games. 60% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: Graphics, Speed Weakness: Price, technology starting to go out of date. This is a darn fast card. Just bought it less then a month ago & have been very happy with it. The quality of the images is amazing. The price is a little steap being that the cards chips are getting a little old... but hey, Apple just made this their high end card of choice. Not a bad indorsement. 58% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: Speed!! Recent driver support from ATI has been great. Every game seems to smoke at full settings Weakness: GPU overclocks fine but the memory does not. Still a little on the expensive side. This card has taken everything I have thrown at it. It is a great upgrade from an older Geforce 3 Ti200. It's great playing Far Cry at full detail with no framerate degradation. 54% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: Excellent, top-notch graphics performance and rendering; speed, speed, and more speed is this graphic card's claim to fame...and it delivers that without question! Weakness: None! ATI usually hits the mark with their graphics cards and the Radeon 9800 Pro is no exception. I did have a driver installation problem with Linux Redhat 9.0, but maybe that was clumsy ol' me! I've been a consistent ATI graphics card user from "way back", since the old ISA based VGA Wonder and Graphics Ultra Pro days, circa 1988. ATI has never let me down in reliability, compatibility, and sheer performance. ATI's video chipsets always seem to be the best and most stable performers on the market. I purchased the Radeon 9800 Pro card as a replacement to a newly purchased Radeon 9700 Pro, which is now running top notch in my wife's 2.8 GHz P4 machine. The Radeon 9800 Pro's AGP 8x interface and Direct 9.0 compatibility makes this graphics card a top-notch graphics and gaming performer. The card has its own power plug instead of drawing power from the AGP slot, the first such setup I've seen. When I saw that, I knew I was on to something special in performance. I have it running in an 8x AGP slot on a Intel SE7505VRB dual Xeon (3.06 GHz) CPU motherboard. The graphics board is an outstanding performer and the drivers seem compatible with all my software under Win 2000. MPEGS, streaming video, web browsing, scanning and modifying JPEGS, and games just seem to fly around the screen. I plan to buy a 3-D game soon and check out that aspect of the card's performance. I did have some problems loading ATI's Linux Redhat drivers for the card. Redhat natively sees the card as something entirely different (VESA graphics card, 128 Mb). But the card works just fine in Linux, in spite of not having dedicated drivers, so it's not a big deal to me right now. 47% of readers found this review helpful. ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: FAST! only 1 slot needed quiet DVD/2D display excellent Weakness: does not overclock by much came with 9700 software $400+ I had been eagerly anticipating the launch of the GeForce FX for ages. When I saw the thing and that it could hardly outperform the Radeon 9700 Pro I jumped ship and pre-ordered my 9800 Pro. Anyone who is buying a card like this should already be well aware of why even with lower clocks this card is actually faster than the FX, so I will spare you that. What you should know is the impression it made on me. 47% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: Great card (while it works) Weakness: ATI provided me absolutely horrible support when I began to have issues My cousin warned me when I told him I was buying an ATI card that they had horrible support. **I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED**. Card worked great for 4 months and then I installed their Nov/Dec 2003 driver update and now I can't even turn my computer on - the card fails on the post test giving me a message that the power supply isn't attached to the card (even though its fan is spinning). The support I've received from ATI has been *rediculous*. A total and complete joke. Their idea of support is "hey, here's a list of what might be the problem." OHHHH THANKS. You know, I don't have a problem with a video card that's having issues - hey, it happens. Even to the best products. But there's no excuse for bad support, impenatrable support websites, taking 48 hours to answer support eMails, etc. 46% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics CardStrengths: None Weakness: Buggy, Media Software Does not Work I purchased this card to replace my AIW 8500 card, bad mistake. The TV video is worse, I cannot get the media software above 8.5 to function. Any version higher will not record video or if it does there is no sound. Regular computer use, games and windows aps run fine most of the time. I now get system lockups which I have never had before installing the card and I'm assuming the card is the problem. I would not reccomend this card to anyone. 42% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI RADEON 9800 PRO Graphics Card
Strengths: Great, great card! Not a lot I can add to what others have written. I know this is probably redundant and most of you know to update the drivers, but with this card it is really really critical.
As I posted above, most of the comments posted by other reviewers are accurate. This is a terrific card and I'm glad I spent the money on it. The only thing I would really point out that I think is not stressed enough is... immediately update the drivers from the website! I can't stress this enough!
