Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2

Strengths: EAX 3 support - FANTASTIC. Support for upcoming EAX4 with a patch from Creative Labs.

Weakness: None so far.

If you have onboard audio, you must upgrade to this card. I have an Abit IS7-E, with onboard sound (AC 97') codec, and kept getting cracking sounds and such. So I then decided to upgrade to the Audigy 2, and WOW. I'm kicking myself in the rear for not doing this sooner. This card does a fantastic job of seperating sounds, and also makes your speakers sound soo much better. I have a set of Z-640's (5.1) from Logitec and I get nothing but compliments and when I show off my system. Do yourself a favor and spend some extra cash on a much needed upgrade. (Bought from Newegg; fast and easy buying process, as always)

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2

Strengths: I bought these for my megaworks speakers and the difference is perfect :)

Weakness: None

I bought these off of ebay for $48 and just oem (but I found the software online as a cd iso). Having owned the soundblaster live 5.1 these are just a better version of a great card. I will get the Audigy 2 ZS but until I can afford that this is only 106 db signal to noise ratio compared to 108 for the 2 ZS, all in all $48 well spent :).

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2

Strengths: Awesome sound. 6.1 Channel Support. Great sound. Did I mention how good it sounds?

Weakness: :S

A good way to spend a few bucks to make you good ol' PC a bit better :) I had SoundBlaster 5.1 before... what a difference!!! Users of Unreal Tournament 2003 and Unreal II will understand. This card is well worth its price. Rock on!

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2

Strengths: OEM package is a great deal. Quick and painless install. Fantastic sound quality, tons of features, excellent Creative software bundle.

Weakness: No Live Drive. Audigy 2 ZS is only marginally more expensive, with many more features.

Like most of Creative products throughout the years, the Audigy 2 provides rock-solid, fast, powerful audio processing and playback. With tons of features, 6.1 support, and THX certification, this card packs in a huge amount of value with a very low cost to the buyer.

This is a great card to get if you are currently using an outdated non-5.1 card, or are using your on-board sound processor, and find that you're taking a big performance hit by doing so. I had this problem, and this card took care of exactly that. I have had absolutely no problems, and not a single issue with compatibility. This card is a shining example of what it means to "set it and forget it".

Available primarily as an OEM package, this card comes bare-boned with the card, a game port extension (not really needed since most controllers are USB), and a CD-ROM with installation software. Designed for system builders or experienced users, no printed instructions are included, but anyone who has installed a PCI card before should have no problems plugging this in and experiencing great sound.

The software bundle is also good, and will have your speakers calibrated in no time. The card supports DVD audio, and also has lots of fun DSP fields, although as most people know, these are fun to play around with, but not very practical in day to day use.

In the end, the Audigy 2 ZS 7.1 line is probably a better buy for those who will be doing more home theater or recording, but as a great "middle ground", this THX 6.1 card is more than capable of holding its own. Recommended.

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2

Strengths: Creative card, price, quality

Weakness: None so far

Awesome card and well worth the price. I upgraded from an old Sound Blaster Live! card, and wow, what a difference. MP3's, games, everything sounds a lot clearer. Highly recommended sound card.
