Great Drive

Strengths: Price, reliability, speed, quiet

Weakness: none so far

I have had this For 3 months now and it hasn't failed once. For the price you can't beat it. I wasn't sure about buying it, but after reading the reviews I gave it a shot.

Dream Come True

Strengths: Burns everything from DVD±R to CD±R/RW fast! I have had this drive since November and have been burning like a maniac with NO errors. On top of that, it has dual layer capabilities!

Weakness: The Nero software that comes with it has a program called Nero ShowTime. It's a movie viewer that CAN'T play DVD's without downloading a plug-in YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR?!?! NEC should have gone elsewhere.

It burns music, data and dvd's nice and fast with no fuss. I have owned other burners, but this one takes the cake. It's cheap and it rocks! You owe it to yourself to buy this drive.

This is an awesome drive. i bought a sony DVD burner along with this drive and this is my fav of the two. Just an awesome drive, super fast burns!

NEC ND-3550A BK DVD+/-RW Dual Layer

Strengths: Quiet drive. Works flawlesly. No coasters. Nice design. Extremely nice for the money. You can't beat it. Performs better than more expensive models. 16X dvd+r burning, 8X DL burning. Great Drive.

Weakness: None whatsoever.

I used this drive for about a month and it works great. I have had no coasters so far. Just plug and play. Dual layer works great, even though it takes a little longer to burn, but that's because of the increased capacity. It is worth the money. A definite item on this years shopping list, and with dual layer and 16x burning who can complain. Excellent work from NEC.

First experience was bad. Burned a CD, and a few DVD's they all appeared to be coasters. Odd behavior in XP Pro. Would not read any DVD type. Game, Movie, burned. RMA time. Got a replacement Drive. Same thing. Put the baby in my Macintosh and it runs like a champ. Searching the net i found a Firmware update 1.06 and it flashed fine. No changes. Cant go wrong with NEC

Strengths: price, brand name

Weakness: none so far

This is a great drive. I also have its older brother the 3500a which also works great. I have burt about 50 DL disks in this so far as well as countless DVD-R's with no coasters!

I have been using this device for a week .I have ripped and burnt several dvds with it.I had no problems with coasters and process is very fast.Installation into my pc was a snap.

Installed it and was using it within minutes. Mine shipped with Nero software that was easy to install and use. This drive seems to be quick, quiet, and so far very reliable.

NEC Strikes again w/ best product on market....

Strengths: Replaced my NEC 2510 w/ latest 3550a from newegg for only $43 dlv'd to my door in 3 days. That is almost as fast as the drive. Quiet. Reads everything.

Weakness: none that have been found so far

After going through the generic dvd burners, I decided that quality would save me the aggravation and $$$ and time in the long run. SO, I bought my first dvd burner a coule of years ago and am sold on them. Highly recommend

NEC 3550 Dual Layer

Strengths: Very fast. Dual layer. Inexpensive

Weakness: I'll let you find one. I can't.

NEC best yet. This is a very fast drive. I have burned 8X dvds in 8:00. Haven't tried 16X yet. Rips very fast. Mine got up to 12X although it says it can get to 16X. Very easy to install. Can't beat the price. Under $40.
