Bose QC2 Headphones - The Best in the Business
Strengths: Incredible sound, extremely comfortable, can be used without the cord, different settings for the airplane vs. other devices, nice protective carrying case.
Weakness: A little bulky to carry around and they do not work at all without a battery (even if you don't want the noise canceling).
I purchased these on sale this summer before I went on a week long business trip to South America. Before the Bose QC2s I had tried cheaper versions from Altec Lansing and Magnavox. Those headphones always worked "so-so" but they never blocked enough noise, were a little uncomfortable, and they *always* had a buzz or hum associated with the noise canceling feature. Sure the Bose headphones ended...

Not durable
Strengths: Noise Cancelation is pretty good in an office environment. Cool looking.
Weakness: Not durable at all.
I use my headphones every day working in an video game dev office. I am very good to them and handle them carefully. But the plastic just breaks. They are so cheap. Now maybe I have a big head (I don't hear anyone laugh at me behind my back) but they just broke. I had them replaced twice and now the warranty is out and I have tape all up and down these things. Would be worth the money if they...

You Get What you Pay For
Strengths: Unsurpassed noise cancelation, great sound. Smaller than typical over the ear headphones due to innovative pivot to fold flat
Weakness: Large compared to in ear headphones.
To sum up how I feel about my Bose Quiet Comfort 2 Headset is that I get mad at myself if I find I have left them home when I go to the airport. The trip is torture when I don't have them with me. Using my non-noise cancelling earbuds I have to crank my Ipod to about 75% volume to hear on any airplane. Using the Bose I have my volume set to about 25% which is only slightly higher than when I...

Bose QC2: The only one in it's class
Strengths: Extremely comfortable for circumaural headphones Very effective noise cancellation Warm, detailed, engaging sound quality
Weakness: High price Some have complained about construction
I travel overseas a good deal, and I have owned 3 different noise cancelling headphones specifically for use on long flights. The first were a cheap joke (Aiwa HP5NC), the second a sincere but failed attempt (Sennheiser PXC250) and the third a resounding success (Bose QC2). The Bose are the only NC phones I have heard that effectively remove the incredible amounts of low frequency noise found in...

QC
Strengths: Best acoustic quality I've ever heard. Noise cancelling is superb. Relatively light considering the benefits.
Weakness: As with all the others, the price. Also, I've noticed that the lower frequencies don't come through as well.
I had been using my roommate's triports for the past two years and they never ceased to impress me. I recently went into a Bose store and, on a whim (and as a birthday present to myself), bought the QC after giving them a quick test drive. I can honestly say that I've never heard better quality music in my life. That said, I noticed that the bass seemed a little weak in comparison to the...
