I was running a G-FORCE 4 4600Ti for about 3 years it finally died so got a ATI 9600XT to replace it
This was fine but I had problems with the video capture on it and it was benchmarking @ around 1980 on 3dmark 2005
I got my copy of doom 3 and then decided I was not happy at all the ati card was very slow on all but the low quality settings in doom 3
So I decided to go back to NVIDIA and boy am I glad I did =)
its just superb I have a Barton 3000+ on a A7N8X-X ASUS MOTHERBOARD with 3x256 pc2700 Corsair ddr memory 768 total and a audigy 2 PCI soundcard and 2 Maxtor hard drives 200 & 160gb (with a HYPER R 480watt PSU
I get over 5000 score in 3dmark 2005 and the quality is BETTER than the ati =)
If you get one of these cards you will be impressed =)

I purchased this card to replace an ATI 9800XT. This card is a next generation product and is 30% to 50% faster in most applications. However, the ATI card's fan was far quieter. If you want a very fast card and don't mind additional noise, I would recommend this product.

The weaknesses of this card, which...
Strengths: Fastest nVidia card on the market, most foreword looking technology, made for Doom 3, which will be the predominant game engine for the next 5 years, and BFG stock overclock and lifetime warranty
Weakness: Requires 2 slots (blocks 1 PCI slot), recommended power supply is at least 480 watts, the card generates a bit of heat, and requires 2 SEPARATE power supply connections!
The weaknesses of this card, which I mentioned above, are relatively minor when you consider this card will power every game engine for the next 5 years at at least 1280x1024 with AA and anistropic filtering enabled. The power supply dual connector is the only thing I found really annoying, but most people with really robust power supplies should be able to deal with this (BFG also gives you two...

The weaknesses of this card, which I mentioned above, are relatively minor when you consider this card will power every game engine for the next 5 years at at least 1280x1024 with AA and anistropic filtering enabled. The power supply dual connector is the only thing I found really annoying, but most people with really robust power supplies should be able to deal with this (BFG also gives you two molex cable splitters, but the second connection is only supposed to connect to a case fan, nothing more). For me, the heat was a non-issue, because my Lian-Li PC60 case breaths great. As for noise, I can't hear the video card over the other case fans and the slightly noisy Ultra X-Connect 500w PSU I have. Enough editorializing, here is what you're most likely reading for, performance! My (test) system is an AMD Sempron overclocked to 2.4Ghz, 1GB Corsair DDR400 Cas2, 36GB WD Raptor 10000rpm main drive. The control video card is my old MSI Geforce FX5700 Ultra, which got 4200 marks in 3DMark03, while the 6800 Ultra OC got 12800. In 3DMark05, my old 5700 Ultra got 760 marks, while the 6800 Ultra OC got 4800. The difference is huge. I can play Doom 3 at 1600x1200 with AA and Anistropic enabled (High Quality settings) and Half-Life with all options fully maxed out at 1600x1200. Doom 3, Half-life 2, and the upcoming Unreal 3 engines are the future of games for the next 5 years and this card can dominate them. Its a worth while investment because its as future-proof as most any computer component can be (think about it, what computer component other than maybe your monitor have you had for more then 5 years?). It simply outpaces ATI in the technology department. ATI relies on older core technologies and brute force to achieve high framerates, but this card as a few foreword thinking features for upcoming versions of DirectX (10).

Strengths: Lifetime warranty, one of the fastest Ultras, good cooling
Bfg has a great card here. With the replaced heatsink and 2 fans they were able to overclock this card and you can do more yourself with no problems. Too bad these Ultras take 2 power cables.

This card is amazing, it comes stock overclocked with a core running at 425mhz, and 1100mhz ram. I run mine at 447/1200 stable. Can't complain!
