Crappy Drive, Don't buy!!!Strengths: well, makes a good target for shotguns, Highly recommended for Catapult ammo as well! Doesn't fly as straight as some ammo does from the catapult, but it does good damage. Weakness: slow read speeds, slow data transfers, crashed 4 days after warranty!!! I tell you Western Digital has it down to a science how long their drives will last... Of course there are the considerable amounts of people who have it crash before the warranty is up, as I've read from just the reviews on this site 2 other people have had crashes of the drive before warranty was up!!!! WD Caviar WD800BB Hard Drive - 80GB - 7200rpm -...Strengths: Very reliable and easy to use. Weakness: Slow seek times? All in all this is a very nice hard drive. The Gb to cost ratio is excellent for such a reliable drive. I run a file server off of this drive and the performance is more than adequate for my needs. On the flipside, programs running off of the drive seem to have slightly slower seektimes than those running off of my other hard drive.

I wanted something inexpensive but high quality and this fit the bill perfectly. I recieved it quickly (newegg.com, thanks!) and it worked perfecly from the first time I booted it up. It's pretty fast and plenty large enough for general use. The most outstanding thing I noticed was how quiet the drive was (and still is). Amusing...

Although some out there do not like Western Digital, my experience with them for the past 4 years has been outstanding. A lot of major companies use them and they have a good warranty on their drives as well. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a hard drive at a great value.

WD Caviar WD800BB Hard Drive - 80GB - 7200rpm -...Strengths: Name brand (Plug and play Windows detection). Well labeled jumper settings. Weakness: None so far. Western Digital makes a great drive for the price. I have used other so called superior drives recomended by co-workers but have have better luck with Western Digital. I would recommend this drive to anyone looking for a solid product at a great price.

WD Caviar WD800BB Hard Drive - 80GB - 7200rpm -...Strengths: Reliable Weakness: Does not have 8mb cache This is the first hd I've bought that is larger than 40gb. I bought it as a replacement in an older HP desktop. It is reliable, faster, &, 4 times as large as the 20gb drive in the HP.

The transfer of all the information from my old hard drive was easy, still with enough room to continue to do my work. Strengths: Cost, Reliability, Features

I have used Western Digital for many years now. When I purchased this drive, it was during mid-2003. The drive still works just fine, and seems to have much life left in it. I leave the computer on 24/7, and it currently has 3 other hard drives installed. The only reason these drives die is due to the environment they are used in. If you go to many LAN parties and shake the computer around too...
