Strengths: Sound!

Weakness: ear pads

This is my second pair. My 1st pair was purchased in 1988 and is STILL going strong! I was looking around for a 2nd pair of headphones, and did my reasearch... these are still as highly rated and competitive as the ones I bought 17 years ago!! Only drawback are the earpads. Just replace them with the EDT 250 V from beyerdynamic and you're done!!

This is actually my second pair of Sony MDR-V6 Headphones. From the compact size (that fits neatly in the nice leather carry case) to the lightweight and comfortable design, these are the choice of most broadcast professionals, which is my career field. I liked them so much I decided to go with the same model over newer ones. I had heard they were discontinued, but when I found them I was overjoyed. The earcups fit comfortably around the ear blocking out exterior sounds while keeping in the fantastically superb sounds. If you are looking for a great, durable pair of headphones, these may very well be what you need.

Strengths: Dynamic Bass, Ease of earphone swivel

I'm a DJ, so go through headphones pretty quickly and haven't found ANY that come close to the comfort and ease of the Sony MDR-V6 for the price. They aren't as bulky as some headsets, but still keep out ambient noise pretty well. The mid-level is tremendous and makes for accurate assessment of vocal tracks. WHY HAS SONY DISCONTINUED THIS STYLE??

Strengths: Good clear sound!

Weakness: None that I can see!

I bought these for my son for Christmas and had to try them out! They have very good crisp sound and I find them comfortable to wear. I like the fact that they fold up for travel!

Strengths: Clear, non-fatiguing sound, crisp highs, surprisingly strong, articulate and accurate bass. Good isolation. Excellent for home studio recording use. May be the most comfortable sealed ear phones.

Weakness: Nothing significant. A bargain at the price. Oh yeah, the foam ear cups will degrade over the years. (Look how long I've had mine!) But guess what...you can replace 'em!

I've used them in my home studio, given them as gifts to friends with "real" studios, and used them in my primary profession as a psychotherapist for relaxation tapes, guided meditations and the like. I have used these phones since I came upon them while working in a music store years ago. I've used them in my home studio, given them as gifts to friends with "real" studios, and used them in my primary profession as a psychotherapist for relaxation tapes, guided meditations and the like. They've held up to little kids, teenage boys, and even teenage girls' barrettes and earrings. I also own Sennheiser HD 580 and HD 280's, and a bunch of Grado SR60's, all of which I love. These are "the other great headphone."
