Awesome Camera!

Strengths: Picture quality (of course), 12 MP, ease-of-use, SDHC card capability, big LCD screen, compact, and relatively light weight.

Weakness: None that I know of yet. I don't foresee any either...

I'm a family photographer, taking photos of my kids and family. This was rated #1 Digital SLR in C.R. and it is a great camera. I highly recommend this if you want to go with a digital SLR camera.

Canon XSI Digital SLR is awesome

Strengths: Great photo quality, quick action shots, large lcd screen, comfortable grip, and lots of features such as Live view

Weakness: Slow shutter speed when in Live view, awkward position of iso

First of all, this is my first dslr, so I am not a pro, but I just love this camera. The pictures are soo much better than your typical point and shoot camera. You are able to take continuous action shots, and there is hardly any time between shots. There are numerous features that you can control which I still am just learning about, such as the spot metering and white balance adjustment. What...

EOS Rebel XSi Black Digital Camera Kit

Strengths: Wonderful image quality and great to be able to work with RAW format

Weakness: The live view is only available in manual settings.

I had a Canon point and shoot that I really loved--I wanted to graduate to a digital SLR and had heard good feedback about the Rebel series. So, far I am satisfied; but need to get more into the manual features to fully use the camera. I was also disappointed that the live view is not available when the camera is set on auto. I am getting used to using the view-finder to compose and focus, it...

Definately a great value and a great camera

Strengths: Excellent value for the dollar and performance. Better than XTI.

Weakness: Standard lens is useless. Need up upgrade to the IS 17-85mm

This nwer XSI is great value compared to the Nikon camera. Although the XSI comes with a standard IS lens, the lens is slow and doesn't focus well but it's included in the kit now as Image Stablization. If you are serious in taking great pictures, consider upgrading to a Canon IS 17-85mm lens. The XSI adds many new features including a longer battery life, and it's a lot better in taking clearer...

IS kit lense make the difference

Strengths: Large LCD screen and live view as well as the IS kit lens. Extremely easy to use for first timers.

Weakness: Price.

This is my first DSLR and just got back from two week honeymoon in Costa Rica and absolutely delighted with its performance. After reviewing the 800+ pics my wife and I have received so many compliments on the image sharpness and vibrant coloring. One recommendation is a UV lens which ended up making a huge difference on outdoor scenic shots.

AWESOME CAMERA

Strengths: Quick, very minimal lag time, compact for a DSLR, Canon quality, good IS lens

Weakness: none

My wife has been using a Canon Digital Rebel (first model) and I just upgraded her to the XSi. She LOVES it. The difference is amazing: faster response and wake up time, faster shutter and definitely decreased lag time. It is smaller and lighter. Comfortable to use. We have a 18-55 canon lens but I upgraded to the new IS lens and it probably adds a little to the performance (esp lower light...

Packed with performance and appealing features

Strengths: 12.2-megapixel, a live view LCD, improved autofocus, new dynamic-range controls.

Weakness: None

The new XSI has everyhing you can dream of! The best feature I like: XSi's 230,000 pixel, 3-inch LCD can be set to function in Live Mode, which permits the camera to autofocus while using the LCD as a viewfinder, without lowering the optical viewfinder reflex mirror! Perfect for macro pictures taken with a tripod. Unlike previous Rebel models, the XSi camera saves image files on SD and SDHC...

New to Digital SLR? Get this camera! you won't get...

Strengths: Very user friendly user interface, LiveView enable point and shoot like experience for novice photographer. Great picture quality. The IS kits lens work great!

Weakness: When the IS is operating the high freq noise is some what annoying. But being say that you can only hear it in a very quite studio enviroment

This is my first SLR. Been using Canon XT of my friend in the past. I decided to get my own, with my first paycheck. There is a lot of pro review out there about this SLR. So I am just going to share my personal feel about this camera, for the rest of detail information you can just google for it. I am total happy with this camera. It is much more advance then the Canon XT, great features, great...

Rebel XSi - another top notch product from Canon

Strengths: 12.2 megapixels, IS lens, live view, 3" display, light weight body

Weakness: maximum ISO setting of 1600, faster burst mode would be nice and a larger buffer for raw capture

I have always felt Canon makes the best cameras. This one does not disappoint. Many additional features (compared to the Xti). Takes excellent low noise pictures, even at higher ISOs. I especially like the fact that my older lenses from my Canon 35 MM film camera work with it as well. For a first DSLR, this is one camera that has enough features borrowed from the higher end 40D that will allow...

Digital Rebel XSi Black

Strengths: Great quality, easy to use

Weakness: None to date - Purchased August 2008 and love it

Better quality than expected. After 30 years of film, very pleased with this camera. The quality of print is excellent. Just wish the lens prices would come down.

Canon EOS Rebel XSi (with 18-55mm lens, black)

THE GOOD: Excellent photo quality for its class; better-than-average speed. THE BAD: Maximum ISO 1600; huge spot-for-spot metering. THE BOTTOM LINE: It doesnt stand out for its feature set or design, but the Canon EOS Rebel XSi delivers on performance and photo quality.

Canon EOS 450D Rebel XSi

While many companies tout the capabilities of their big, expensive professional cameras, Canon's flagship is a Rebel. The Rebel XSi showcases many new technologies, currently besting the semi-pro camera in the line in several areas. Its 12.2 megapixel sensor exceeds the resolution of the EOS 40D, the new Live View mode uses phase-detect and contrast-detect autofocus modes, and the Rebel XSi's kit...

DCRP Review: Canon EOS Rebel XSi

The Canon EOS Rebel XSi is a very good entry-level digital SLR. It offers very good photo quality (with the appropriate tweaks), lighting fast performance, live view, and a large LCD display. The camera has its share of flaws, though, including soft JPEGs at default settings, redeye, sluggish contrast detect autofocus, and a rather high price. Still, the Rebel XSi is a solid choice for those...

Canon Digital Rebel XSi Digital Camera Review

The Canon Digital Rebel XSi is an update to last year's XTi that ups the resolution to 12.2 megapixels and adds a handful of other new features, including a bigger 3-inch screen, an improved autofocus system, and optical image stabilization in the kit lens. It's also the first Digital Rebel to feature the now commonplace Live View mode, which provides a point-and-shoot-esque live view of the...
