I purchased this unit partly for...
Strengths: small size, good sound quality
Weakness: supplied head phones are weak in the bass
I purchased this unit partly for the net MD features and partly for making field recordings. If I had only been interested in net MD fetures I cound have purchaced a much cheaper model that has no Mic input. And had I been mainly interested in field redordings I might consider stepping up to the new High Density MD format, as my understanding is that it allows digital uplolading of field...

Can't do direct to CD burner with...
Strengths: Nice hardware, good clean sound. Could be a portable recording studio.
Weakness: Can't do direct to CD burner with this unit due to software piracy functions. Stupid if you just want to record your band, for instance, and burn it directly to a CD. Must computer reprocess

Must computer reprocess, which means you have to playback 5 hours worth of music, then re-digitize it. This results in quite a bit of loss. Hopefully Sony will see the error of their ways and make something that can record. Don't...

Strengths: light, fast and easy to use
Weakness: does not have FM/AM.
