Description:
Intel's 0.13 micron process technology enables the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor to further extend its leadership with a larger cache, a higher frequency, and lower power. The Pentium 4 processor with 512-KB L2 cache on 0.13 micron process is designed for high-performance desktops and entry-level workstations, and is binary-compatible with previous Intel® Architecture processors. The Pentium 4 processor delivers great performance for applications running on operating systems such as Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows 98, and UNIX. In addition, systems based on Pentium 4 processors include the latest features to simplify system management and lower the total cost of ownership for large and small business environments. The Pentium 4 processor has been designed for the next decade of computing. The product clearly delivers better performance on basic everyday uses. However, the product is designed for much more interactive, highly-integrative usage models such as collaborative workgroups, Internet audio and streaming video, image processing, video content creation, speech, 3-D, games, multimedia, and multitasking user environments. It also delivers a world-class user experience across basic standalone office applications.

since you need a chipset that supports the 800 mhz fsb i would go with the DFI Lanboy it is nice looking feature loaded comes with rounded cables(for those of you w/ case windows)and you can fush the bus speed to 1ghz so your 3.0 will run like 3.7 ghz nice huh no weird cooling either it has a big heat sink

Strengths: EVERYTHING. Great for the game enthusiast. Cost me $300 and was well worth it.

It was a great buy. I am into games and video encoding and such, cut my encoding time for DVD Video, SVCD, VCD, DivX/XviD in more than 1/2! I am extremely pleased with it sofar. Bought a ASUS P4C800 Deluxe mobo with it and it flys. This equipped with a good video card (radeon 9700 in my case) and alot of cooling (5 fans for me) and you have a rock steady solid gaming computer. I wouldnt go...

If you are willing to shell out...
Strengths: Hyper-Threading Technology allows multiple threads to be processed SIMULTANEOUSLY! This drops load times for large applications significantly, as well as allows for better multitasking.
Weakness: It's expensive!
If you are willing to shell out the big bucks for performance, go for this one. Intel is finally coming out of the closet with a processor that stomps all over AMD. However, if you're just DYING to get the Multi-Thread technology and the 800MHz FSB, I would recommend going with the 2.8GHz or the 2.6GHz, as they are several hundred dollars cheaper, and you will probably not even notice a...

This processor is excellent for...
Strengths: Excellent performance, 800 mhz fsb and more, just look at the specs
Weakness: incredibly pricey
This processor is excellent for high-end applications. I use it for video editing and get unbelievable rendering times. I have heard that this processor has a ton more potential when overclocked, but spending almost 400 dollars on a processing unit is a ton of money, too much to risk overclocking with. I bought this about 3 weeks before the price drop, unfortanately, and now it looks like this...

Strengths: Great speed, overclocking, and holds low temperature.
Weakness: As always Intels prices could always come down.
Just a great, fast, stable, very overclockable CPU /w the right motherboard. I have this one on an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe board and it's KILLER!
