wow dual core

Strengths: 2 cores both operating at 2.8ghz

Weakness: kinda slow compared to my old machine but when i am working the computer hard like running defrag and virus scan at the same time it hauls

this is a great dual core for the money and it performs better than my 3.4 ghz w/ ht when i need it to. a little slower when operating single task processes but all in all it is a great processor

great multi-tasking cpu

Strengths: Good performance Fast when running multiple programs

Weakness: runs a little hot, about 52C for me not the best price performance CPU out there

Task switching most certainly got faster for me with this CPU. Even though its not much of a gaming CPU, but since I like to be running a couple dozen of program at the same time, this dual core CPU beats most other single core ones out there

Ouch, hot!

Strengths: Excellent true multi-threading capabilities. Runs cool when idle. Independent 2MB caches. Best stock fan from Intel so far. Relitively inexpensive.

Weakness: Hot when both cores utilized. Stock heatpad my be inadaquate.

I ended up getting the short end of the stick when I overheated the CPU 10 times (90 degree Celsius cut-off protection), because of a faulty heatpad that was supplied with the stock fan. I didn't know it was possible so that's why the processor has to suffer for some time. I did some research and chose the best thermal paste - Arctic Silver. That's something you don't want to cheap-out on (it's...

Pentium D 820 Dual Core Processor

Strengths: Extremely fast Basically two chips in one

Weakness: Runs extremely hot stock heat sink fan might need to be upgraded

I had done a lot of research when i was in the process of building my computer and i finally settled on this one. The Intel 820 Dual Core processor is like having two chips in one. However, this is also its downfall. The CPU runs extremely hot and the stock heat sink fan might not even be enough as i noticed that mine was shutting itself down to prevent overheating. Intel should have upgraded the...

A nice processor

Strengths: cheap price. Low temperature, large potential to overclock,

Weakness: no hyperthread.

Once I overclocked this unit to 3.5G with gigabyte 8I945P pro MB, it worked fine and the temperature did go up dramatically while superPi calculation improved a lot. when I tried to go to 3.6G, there was no responce and I had to reset the computer. After 2 automatic resets, the motherboard set the clock to norm state. Not bad.

Pentium D 820 Dual Core 2.8GHz CPU

Strengths: Dual core is the future for home computing and it's here now

Weakness: None that I've found

Initially, I was planning to go with a 3.2 GHz single core Pentium 4. After a good friend suggested that I take a close look at the dual core, I decided to go with it. The 2.8 GHz dual core is only a bit more expensive than the 3.2 GHz single core, but in a multi-tasking environment it should be significantly faster. I'm very pleased with the performance of the system I built using it.

Intel Pentium D 820 Dual Core Processor

Strengths: Independent 2MB caches. 2 cores both operating at 2.8ghz

Weakness: None

Dual Core CPU. Supports 64-bit processing. Still lack of driver support for 64-bit so stick with 32bit windows untill Vista comes out. I'm very pleased with the performance of the system I built using it.

pentium D dual core

Strengths: fast boot/loading

Weakness: none

I have to buy this Pentium D because of my mother board GA-8I945G Pro do not support P4 processor! I use Zalman CNPS 9500LED to cool this CPU and it work great. I plan to use it for gaming and video editing. This is the future processor with multi-tasking capability...

hot item - but in a bad way

Strengths: Haven't been able to fully utilize them yet, although I'm sure there are many

Weakness: Stock fan and heatsink are completely inadequate; runs very hot

Do yourself a favor and buy the OEM version of this processor. The fan and heatsink, along with the thermal pad, appear to be the same stuff they used for the socket 478 pentium 4's. Because that was my last processor, I assumed the provided CPU coolers would be adequate. When I first started up my newly built system, my motherboard turned itself off within 5 minutes. Upon restart, it notified me...

Fast when you realy push it

Strengths: very nice when you have multipl tasks running.

Weakness: I think the hipper thred CPU would cover 95% of the users and this one gets HOT.

This is the best CPU I have had from Intel (I'm an admitted AMD fan). I'm using a Asus mother board, and a large tower with big fans. I have noticed the temp on my towers thermomiter is up 90%F from my old AMD 2400. but this CPU is much faster with Autocad and games.
